A CT scanner's X-ray detector experiences extreme centrifugal forces in high-speed rotation. To function reliably in these conditions, a ceramic substrate with superior rigidity and deformation resistance is used as an interposer for the unit's photodiodes (PDs).
Kyocera can offer ceramic substrates to support either the conventional scintillator method of optical signal conversion or the photon-counting method.
Features
Higher Rigidity
CTE Matching
Superior Thermal Dissipation
Superior Surface Flatness

Example: Substrate for Flip-Chip Bonding

The above is for illustrative purposes.

Other Features / Options
- Optional polishing process to produces a flat die-attach area.
- Higher insulation resistance (A440: 17kV/mm): Withstands high voltages.
- Optional electrical simulation for impedance-matching in high-speed applications.
- LTCC materials with Cu conductor are available where lower trace resistance is required. For more details on LTCC materials, click here.
